DrupalCamp Phoenix is a two-day conference organized by professional Drupal organizations and the Phoenix Drupal User Group (PHXDUG) to promote and advance the Drupal community in Arizona and the Southwest region. Anyone who is interested in learning about Drupal or expanding his or her skills is encouraged to attend.
Ashday was proud to help sponsor the 2013 DrupalCamp Phoenix, and Russell Keppner once again served as one of the emcees. However, instead of presenting sessions, this time we provided an all-day Training Lounge during the camp. This followed the same formula as our previous mentored drupal video training, but on a drop-in-and-out-whenever-you-want basis.
Those new to Drupal and wanting to get started, or who couldn't find a session that matched their interests and experience, could drop into the Training Lounge and learn something useful. And they got to pick what that meant!
Participants brought a laptop, and we provided headphones and helped them get set up and started on the path to Drupal Ninja. They were free to work on an existing site or start a new one.
Chris Shattuck of BuildAModule and Russell Keppner from Ashday served as mentors, and were available to answer questions on a one-on-one basis, work through sticky spots, or demonstrate additional examples to help clarify tough concepts. By using video training instead of a live lecture, participants were able to work at their own speed, pausing when they needed to, replaying information they didn't get the first time around, and skipping stuff they were already familiar with.
DrupalCon Phoenix 2013 turned out to be a lot of fun. We hope to see you there next year.
